Why Bitcoin?

Uncensorable – Banks, governments, credit card and financial agencies limit whom, quantity and when one can transfer wealth to. Bitcoin allows one to conduct financial transactions 24/7/365 with ANYONE, without a third party in the middle.

Unconfiscatable – NO ONE can take your Bitcoin from you. One can store the 24 word secret phrase in their brain, across the universe.

You are your own bank – You control all the funds. You hold the secret key to access your money, not a bank or government. You choose what you want to do. You can be a lender, you can charge interest on payments, you can use Bitcoin as collateral, you can pass it onto your heirs instantly.

Faster and more nimble than gold – Bitcoin can be sent all over the world, instantly, with a perfect guarantee of authenticity and security. Gold must be tested for purity, it’s heavy and costly to move. It’s difficult and expensive to protect. Are you really going to drag a brick of gold to Walmart and slice pieces off of it for a frozen pizza?

What is wrong with the US Dollar?

First a definition of inflation: it is the DECLINE in purchasing power over time. The USA’s inflation rate reported by the U.S government is about 2%. But this figure is extremely conservative and is considered highly inaccurate. An example of a higher inflation rate is house prices. From 1963($19,300) to 2020($387,000) = 1905% total = 33%/year inflation rate. Source: https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/ASPUS

The Federal Reserve is the central bank of the USA. This bank funds all subservient banks. It also prints the US Dollar. When the USD is printed at an accelerating rate, the value of the USD is diluted. Until 2019 COVID, the average printing is 6%. From Feb 2020 to Dec 2020, the average printing increased to 15%.

So think about this…. if the total amount of dollars increases, then the total value is reduced. Here’s an example, if there are $100 dollars in the known universe, and The Fed prints, $100 more, then the total USD now has HALF of its purchasing power. This is what is precisely happening now. Every year your savings is being reduced in purchasing power by over 10%, not the 2% the government claims.

Bitcoin is a DEFLATIONARY currency. This means, the total creation of Bitcoin, per year, is halved every four years.

Type of Bitcoin owners/users.

Traders – These people analyze charts all day looking for dips to buy, then peaks to sell.

HODLERS – These people buy and forget they have it. I didn’t misspell that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hodl

Technical Nerds – These are people interested in the technology and cryptography.

From my experience, HODLERS make the most money and benefit the most economically from Bitcoin.

How do I buy Bitcoin?

On Coinbase: https://www.coinbase.com/join/stites_zh

How do I store Bitcoin in a wallet?

Install a mobile wallet called Bluewallet.

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.bluewallet.bluewallet&hl=en_US&gl=US

iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bluewallet-bitcoin-wallet/id1376878040

In the app, create a new wallet, and it will then display super secret SEED words.

  • These words MUST be protected with your life.
  • DO NOT STORE THE WORDS IN YOUR PHONE.
  • Write them down, TWICE, and then store in two locations.
  • Why would you write them down on paper? Paper is flammable, gets wet, and is easily destroyed.
  • Scratch/stamp your SEED words into a piece of metal.
  • This SEED phrase, can be used to recover your funds on ANY other standard Bitcoin wallet, not just Bluewallet.

Inside of Bluewallet, click into the new wallet, and then click receive. Click the long string of numbers/letters to copy to your clipboard. This is your Bitcoin address.

In Coinbase, click the paper airplane icon to SEND the Bitcoin. Paste in your Bluewallet address, and then TRIPLE check the address is accurate. If it is ok, hit send.

Bitcoin takes on average 10 minutes to send. Don’t worry 🙂

It’s best to send a tiny amount ($5) to test the waters. Then repeat to send larger amounts.

But what about taxes?

Bitcoin is considered property by the IRS.

NOT A TAXABLE EVENT:

  • Hodling…even when the value changes up or down.
  • Moving from your wallet to your other wallet.
  • Moving from an exchange to your wallet.

TAXABLE EVENTS:

  • Selling the Bitcoin for cash.
  • Trading the Bitcoin for another crypto, property or service.
  • Giving to someone else. They incur a tax hit as income.
